It is recommended that all riders wear a mask while riding on the bus, but presently it is not mandatory. Please be sure to keep extra masks in your child's bag.
Once your child is registered, you will be added to the route. You will also be assigned a time of pick-up and/or drop-off at your designated spot.
All of our vehicles are equipped with seat-belts. These belts must be worn while the child is riding on the bus. When approaching the drop-off point passengers must wait until the vehicle comes to a complete stop before removing their seat-belt and leaving their seat.
Passengers should sit facing the front and be sure to keep the aisle free of feet, bags etc. Bags should remain zipped up and on their laps or on the floor in front of the child. Personal belongings should remain in their bags while on the bus. For the safety of our riders we do not permit eating, drinking or gum chewing on our vehicles. Indulging while riding could lead to choking, sickness or at the very least obstructive litter on the floor.
Riders must be at the designated spot on time for pick-up. Drivers are permitted to wait 2 minutes past the pick-up time before carrying on to ensure a timely arrival for all on the route. Should a child miss their ride it becomes the parent or guardians responsibility to make alternate arrangements for transportation. A fee of $7 will be payable upon pick-up if you request the driver to return after missing the bus.
Drivers will wait ten minutes past the dismissal bell for passengers to board. Should a child miss the bus the child must go into the office and contact a parent or guardian to arrange alternate transportation.
If at any time the bus is behind schedule please wait at the designated pick-up/drop-off spot to ensure that you do not miss your bus when it does arrive. Should the bus be running more than 10 to 15 minutes behind we will make every effort to contact you to let you know.
Upon dropping off our drivers always watch to make sure that the child is in the door or met by a parent before carrying on. If no one is there to receive the child, and/or the child cannot gain access, the child must re-board the bus. The driver will maintain responsibility for the child until contact is made with the parent. In this instance a fee of $1 per minute will be charged for childcare up to $30 for the first half hour and then $30 per hour after that.
It is of great assistance for us to know if a child will be absent. If you know your child will not need the bus please call to cancel your service that day. Should your child miss the bus into school please call to let us know if the child will be on the bus out. Alternately, if your child was on the bus into school but does not require the trip out, contact the office to let us know. Knowing ahead of time keeps the bus on schedule. Should a child be absent from the bus without notification the bus will not return until a parent or guardian has called for a re-start.
Although we make every effort to stick to the assigned pick-up and drop-off times, this schedule relies mostly on the traffic and road conditions. Drivers cannot be held responsible for hold ups due to these issues. If your bus is running more than fifteen minutes late we will call to inform you.
We reserve the right to cancel service at any time due to hazardous road and/or weather conditions. Tune into 680 AM radio or CP24 for bus cancellation information, we follow TDSB protocol. Should this occur no refund or credit will be issued.
All riders should be aware of our policies and procedures. Please read through this page with your children upon registration to be sure they are fully informed.
Timing is of the essence and it slows the route down if the driver has to deal with minor infractions (such as eating, standing or hindering other children). For this reason we have a points system. A child will receive 1 point for each of those minor infractions. If the child reaches 10 points they will be suspended from the bus for 1 day.
All riders are subject to the behavioral code posted by the board of education. Should a behavioral issue arise a call will be made to the parent or guardian. Behavioral issues are subject to suspension depending on the incident.
In an emergency any sick or injured passengers will be transported to the nearest hospital. The parent or guardian will be notified immediately once the situation permits. Please be sure to write down your child’s health card number in the space provided on the registration form to ensure that prompt medical attention can be given should we be unsuccessful in contacting the parent or guardian right away.
We cannot be held responsible for any incident that occurs outside the vehicle.
Please note that we are limited in a back-up situation. If a vehicle breaks down we will cover the route according to the availability of other vehicles but there may be a delay in getting to or from your destination.
